Dave Ward Earns Endorsement of IAFF and Both Local Fire Unions
The men and women who run into burning buildings are backing Dave Ward for State Senate District 24 — and they're not shy about why.
Dave Ward has earned the endorsement of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), along with both IAFF Local 2424 representing York County fire fighters and IAFF Local 2020 representing the Williamsburg City fire department.

For the fire fighters of District 24, this endorsement isn't just about politics — it's personal. These are the neighbors who know firsthand what it means to have a state senator who listens. They've seen what happens when leaders make decisions without consulting the people doing the work. They've watched communication failures cost taxpayers a quarter of a million dollars that could have been avoided. And they believe Dave Ward is the candidate who will actually be in their corner.
"Dave understands that investing in public safety is investing in the community," said one local union leader. "He gets it."
The endorsements span both the county and the city — a testament to the broad, cross-jurisdictional trust Ward has built across the region. From York County to downtown Williamsburg, the fire fighting community is unified: Dave Ward is their candidate for District 24.
Dave Ward has pledged his support for fire fighters' rights, workplace safety, and the kind of commonsense public safety funding that protects both first responders and the residents they serve.
